Ikebana Workshop

The workshop will introduce the basic principles of Ikebana flower arrangement and the Japanese aesthetic of simplicity. Ohara is one of the oldest schools of Ikebana and is known for its use of natural materials and celebrating the beauty of each season.
Autumn in Japan is associated with the chrysanthemum and the Festival of the Double Ninth (9th September in the Western calendar). So we will be using chrysanthemums for the arrangements.
The session is suitable for beginners.
We will bring vases, kenzans (flower holders) and scissors so each participant can make two arrangements. Participants can take the flowers home, but not the vases and kenzans. The workshop will take around an hour and a half.
The facilitators will be Harue Oki (Master and Instructor) and Alison Cross (instructor) from the Ohara School of Ikebana.
